Matt & Ellen’s Cumbrian wedding was an incredibly joy-filled one, full of creative flair and beautiful touches from the Bridal party.
I’ve known Ellen a few years, and photographed her and her family 5 years ago when she was at university, so it was so fantastic to see the family again and be celebrating such a wonderful occasion. Ellen has a fantastic sense of style, so I was really excited to see what the wedding day had in store, and I was not disappointed. It was a day full of beauty!

Ellen got ready at her family home in Kendal, surrounded by her close family and friends.

Ellen had made her own wedding dress, yep- made it all herself with the help of her Nana. Her sister joined in too, having to do a few final adjustments just before leaving the house. A real family project!

Ellen’s beautiful bouquet had peonies, craspedia, veronica, astilbe, david austin roses and more, a blend of peaches and yellows which was totally stunning, complimented with a flower crown in her hair.

The bridal party walked all the way to the family church for the ceremony, accompanied by their much loved cocker spaniels.

Ellen & Matt were married in Kendal

The reception was held at the stunning venue of Eden Barn in Cumbria, and the bridal party filled it with beautiful touches on the tables; picnic hampers and flowers and liberty fabric and hand-wired birds and more. It really was a feast for the eyes, there was so much to take in!

The bridal party were so much fun to photograph, you can see just how much they were enjoying the big day.

The rest of the day was a beautiful success, with happy family and friends feasting on a pie picnic and ice cream, fuelling their giggles at the speeches.

Evening entertainment from Ellen & Matt’s friends and family was beautiful – their first dance was an unique version of ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams, sang by the super-talented Harri Endersby, one of the bridesmaids.

June in the North of England has the latest golden hour (I drove back at 11pm and there was still light in the sky!) – but I was so pleased to grab a few shots of the Bride and Groom as the sun was setting – absolutely gorgeous, especially with Ellen’s stunning red hair.
